A great night for a wonderful cause. Wombat kids is an organisation to support children who have lost a parent. Last night in the Botanical Gardens they has a fundraising evening. Lots of fun things for the kids to do - rides, jumping castle, spray tattoos, face painting, kids fitness, Zumba demo, Karate demo, live music, Police and Fire cars and lots more!!!

Meet Bella

We have another baby. This is our new little girl, born Thursday 12th January. Kayla has named her Bella, even though it's Zac's calf. He doesn't care about their names, he is just interested in the money at sale time!!!

Helen, Kayla and Zac bought their cows as calves for $100 each. The girls are dairy breeds, one is black and white, she is Fresian. The other one is chocolate brown, she is Jersey. The bull that comes to visit is a Limousin, beef breed . As you can see they are mixed. The calves that were 12 months old sold for $600 ea, not a bad investment for two teenagers.

Building Gingerbread Houses

This afternoon it was time to build and decorate Gingerbread Houses. This year, I made three smaller houses, so the kids could decorate one each. After school we went shopping and they each picked out 2 bags of lollies. We came home and started building and then decorating. Oh yes, I do have 4 children, Zac has no interest what so ever in the actually making of things. He does appear, when it's time for the eating part!!!!

Now don't fall off your chair, I actually made some cards last night. At one stage I had so many cards, I was giving away bundles of them. The other day I went to my card container and there wasn't much in there to choose from. I actually went and looked at cards in the shop. Kayla was disgusted with me LOL!! She said "Mum there is no way you are going to buy any cards. It's just not the same" So last night, with a spare few minutes, I pulled out some bits and pieces and had a little play.............

Christmas Baking

Kloe had her friend Emmah over today and the girls did some baking. They made Stained Glass Cookies

Lots of dough and lollies were eaten in the process

We also made these Santa Hats. I used the Cupcake mix from the other day, I subsituted 40g of flour for 40g of cocoa. Baked them in mini muffin pans. Cut the top of your mini cakes flat. Cut the end off small strawberries and place on top of your cupcake. Add some piped cream.

Making Shortbread

A few weeks ago, I asked the kids what they would like to bake for Christmas. Shortbread was something they all wanted to ~~make~~ eat. Yesterday afternoon was Shortbread baking time. Jarred and Kloe has a lovely time making it and then eating it warm out of the oven, with a glass of milk. I love standing back and watching them..........................

The decorating of the tree

Zac made this rocky road at school. He didn't like it, so it actually made it's way home. It's White Chocolate, Cranberry and macadamia. It was so yummy. You can find the recipe here

We made these gifts for Jarred and Kloe to take to school for their friends. I used Treat Tubes that I purchased from Michelle Winson of Treat Tubes on Facebook. They are the perfect size to hold M & M's. I downloaded a free Christmas Topper to staple on the top. Easy and Fun!! $0.55 each

Easy Cupcakes

I made the easiest cupcakes ever this afternoon. Mix 310mls cream, 200g caster sugar, dash of vanilla and 2 eggs together with a wooden spoon. Add 320g sifted SR Flour, mix well. Place into a lined 12 x muffin tray. Bake at 180 for 20-25mins. They have a great texture and are perfectly shaped.

Quick, cute and easy - my kind of party food.

Mini Milky Ways, mini Candy Canes, Tiny Teddies and a little bit of melted chocolate.

Use the melted chocolate to glue the Candy Canes to the bottom of the Milky Ways, allow to set. Turn over and gently squish the tiny teddy in the top.

My kids loved them. I surprised them with these on Thursday afternoon, to celebrate the countdown to Christmas.

Birthday Day and Fathers Day

It was a big weekend for the man of the house. A birthday on Saturday and Fathers Day on Sunday.

After Basketball on Friday night we had an early birthday cake, to celebrate Chris's birthday. I made a vanilla and chocolate custard filled sponge and a Chocolate mousse cake. Early Saturday Chris opened his presents had bacon and eggs for breakfast, then we hit the road and headed to Warrnambool for the weekend.

Pinwheel Quilt

Yay it's finished!!! This quilt has been a work in progress for a few months. I broke all the rules of quilting. I made it up as I went along. Bought fabric and had to buy more, not once but twice. Experimented along the way, learnt a lesson or two, maybe even three. It's taken awhile but it's all done and I am really pleased with the end results.

Last night as I was stitching the binding, Kayla told me that Kloe wouldn't mind at all, if she had it. I really didn't think it was her 'thing' but she has fallen in love with it and really wants it. I don't think Kloe will be giving it up to her big sister, anytime soon. I think I will be making another one, very soon.

This makes me want to cry. Due to all the rain we've had and a lot of frost, we've lost almost all our Lemon Scented Gums, that lined our driveway. We cared for these trees like babies and they decide to die on us.

Owl heat pack

A few months ago I made several heat packs. I donated all but one of these, to the Mothers Day stall at school.

Last night World War III broke out!! Kloe has been taking the heat pack to bed each night and Jarred decided he wanted a turn. Oh boy these two are sure learning how to argue!!! It went on and on and on. I told them, they had to work it out. Kloe ended up giving in and stormed off in a huff. Today I thought I would make her, her very own special heat pack. I filled it with wheat and lavender. It's sitting on her bed waiting for her to come home. This will probably start a new round of arguing................ I plan on making another tomorrow :)

Basketball quilt No.2

This is the quilt that Mum designed. Jarred thinks his, is so much better. I must say I love the border on his, very clever. I do think however, that the fabric stands out a little more on this one. This one will be a gift. I am currently working on one for Miss Kloe. It's one that I started before these. It's been a slower process, but it's coming together nicely. Just waiting on some more fabric to finish the binding.

Basketball quilt and more

I spotted this fabric and knew that Jarred would love a quilt made out of it. I cut out lots of squares, with a plan of mixing them all up. Jarred had others ideas. He sat and rearranged the squares over and over again. This is the end result. I tried very hard, to change his mind. There WAS NO WAY!!! This is the quilt that Jarred designed. He couldn't wait for it to be finished. He is dragging it around everywhere. Which I must say, is nice :)

I've also been working on another little something, for my new nephew Hayden. I was inspired by a blanket I saw on Raverly and just had to make one.

It's no secret that I love to bake. I would much prefer to be cooking, any type of sweet treats than dinner. When I spotted this RECIPE . I had to try it out. I did use a different chocolate cake recipe. It's one I have mentioned before. It's an eggless one and it's so easy.

Easy Peasy Chocolate Cake

1 1/2 cups plain flour

1 cup sugar

4 Tbs cocoa

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp bi-carb
1 cup water
1/3 cup veg oil
2 tsp vanilla
2 Tbs white vinegar
Sift all dry ingredients. Add all wet ingredients and mix - easy!!!

I think they will get a big thumbs up this afternoon from the kids.

Escaping the Cold

For months we have been planning our Gold Coast holiday. We started counting the months, then the weeks and then the days. Finally it was time to escape the cold weather and enjoy some sunshine.

We spent a night in Geelong ready for our flight to Brisbane the next morning.

A very early morning wake up. We left a very cold and windy Victoria. We were so excited when the pilot told us it was a lovely sunny, 23 degrees in Brisbane.

Poppy was waiting for us when we arrived. We went and picked up our hire car and then headed off to DFO for some shopping until Chris arrived from Port Hedland. His flight was delayed and we spent a very long time doing laps of the airport. We finally got him and headed to the Gold Coast. A quick look at our apartment and the view and it was off to bed.

We woke to a beautiful, clear, sunny day. We all headed off to the beach for a walk and a play!! We then headed out to the Sharks Footy Club for lunch

That night we caught up with Oma, Opa, Aunty Kathy, Uncle Drew, Jett and Ruby.

On Thursday Kloe and Jarred went to Sea World with Aunty Kathy and the rest of us went to Harbour Town.

Geelong Icecream Cake

The cake request this year, was for a Geelong cookies and cream icecream cake. I melted 4 litres of cookies and cream icecream and set it in a round cake pan. Piped around the bottom and then stuck Oreo biscuits to the side. Geelong Cats cake topper for the top = One very happy 8 year old boy.

At 5am on this day 8 years ago. I woke Chris and told him it was a good day to have a baby. He was in a panic, because he didn't think, I would be able to last, the 15 minute drive to the hospital. Kloe's labour was 30 minutes. So we just assumed this one would be even quicker. Oh, how wrong we were. Chris had many dreams of delivering this baby on the side of the road. Well our little man had other ideas and manage to get himself all wound up and got stuck. He took the longest time of all the kids and was finally born at 7.13pm that night. Our lives have never been the same since.

Making cupcakes for school. We researched and found a great egg less Chocolate Cake recipe. One little girl in Jarred's class is allergic to eggs and he didn't want her to miss out. We did a test run over the weekend and it got a huge thumbs up from everyone. I was so surprised how easy and yummy it was.

We have had, several heavy frosts already and Winter has only just started. The fire has been blazing. The kids have been plonking themselves in front of the fire and not wanting to move. Time for some blogging updates. Yes, I know it's been a long time between posts. Kayla celebrated her 17th birthday on 1st June. It was a true Winters morning with a heavy frost. The day turned out to be sunny and warmish for the 1st day of Winter. She requested pancakes for breakfast. She wasn't too happy that Jarred and Kloe had a pupil free day and she had to go to school. Like last year she wanted her presents in the afternoon. Dad surprised her with a bunch of pink tulips the night before, when he came home. He bought them at the airport and carried them all the way home on the plane. She received pj's, knickers, socks, clothes, Ariat boots, soap, body lotion, a massage gift voucher from Jordi and lots of money for a future shopping trip. Dinner was chicken and leek pies followed by Masterchef Black Forrest cake, for the second year running. The cake takes hours to make but it's so worth the effort - YUMMO!!! The count down is now on until the 18th Birthday. She has big plans for that one!!!

Kloe surprised us all and turned out to be, a little fisherwoman. She loved it. She caught 6 fish and was thrilled.

It's school holiday time already. 1st term just flew by. It's been very cold and wet here, not the best start to the holidays. The kids haven't minded at all. It doesn't stop them from coming and going and having fun with their friends.

A night to remember

It was all over in a flash. We all had a wonderful night and our girl looked stunning. Thankfully, everything came together and went smoothly on the day that mattered. I was so proud of my girl, wanting to wear my wedding dress. Who would have thought, that a dress which was 19 years old, would became the dress, that everyone was talking about on the night. It was really special to me and to her. As promised some more photos. Earings from Aunty Donna and Uncle Joe, hair clip from Aunty Evelyn and Uncle Tony, perfume from Oma and Opa, bracelet from Mum and Dad. A very special thank you to Aunty Mish who saved the day, with finding the right shoes.

Facewasher Bunnies

I love a quick, easy and fun project. Especially one that the kids can do to. I saw this idea in a book, I got from the library the other day. Of course I had to try it out.

Roll the facewasher in from both sides until you get to the middle.

Fold the pointy bits around and bunch them together to form ears.

Tie an elastic band in front of the ears to form the head.

The will look like this

Add some eyes and a nose and even a fluffy tail. I tied a ribbon around my girl bunny. Easy Peasy :)

I used supplies I had on hand. But I would love to make some, with white facewashers and little pink noses.

With Easter fast approaching I wanted to make a start on some handmade goodies. I altered the fabric basket, I have previously used and added a few bunny touches. I'm not sure about the side handles. I think I will make one with a basket handle next.

Jarred gave me some of his precious bubble gum and sat watching while I chewed away. I sat praying that I still could do it LOL! I tried to explain to him, how to do it, he listened and watched and then we tried together.......................

He tried and tried and tried. In the end he managed a little bubble. He had more fun watching me.........

We laughed and laughed and laughed, we had so much fun. When was the last time you did something totally silly and fun? Go on.........I dare you to!!!

Busy hands

Scrapbooking and cardmaking have taken a bit of a back seat recently. I needed a break away from paper and have a new obsession with fabric and wool. I have a few project on the go at the moment.

Here are a few I have finished.

A Frilly Dilly bag on it's way to someone special for their birthday next month. I saw this pattern by Janelle Wind and fell in love with it. I just had to make it. I have big plans for more.

I've also crochet two scarves, while watching telly (Mainly cricket, thanks to the men of the house) I need to take some photos. I have also started a crocheted blanket for Jarred. I wanted a nice colourful one, but nope the boy insisted on Geelong Cats colours only. It will be a project that will take some time.

Next on the sewing front, is some baby items. I am going to be an Aunty again in August. I can't wait to get started on some cute little things.

It's a girl

Honey our other cow gave birth in the early hours of this morning. Last night she was showing signs she was very close, but I didn't think it would happen that quickly. We missed the whole thing!!! She did it all on her own. We have a new little girl and her name is Dolly.

She is so placid, just like her mum. The kids walked straight up to her and patted her.

You can see how much Totum has grown from this photo. We are thrilled with our expanding family.

For Christmas I received the most beautiful gift. My friend Rach made me a gorgeous cushion. She inspired me to dust off the sewing machine and do some sewing. She seems to have this effect on me. Thanks so much Rach. I pulled out the fabric I had here and got to work.

Kloe turns 11

It's our little princesses birthday today. Gosh her birthday comes around so quickly after Christmas. She has been planning her special day for a few weeks now.

We celebrated an early birthday before Dad went back to work. We all went to see Gulliver's Travels (by the way this is a great movie, lots of laughs) we had a picnic dinner at the park. Kloe helped me make a sponge cake filled with fresh cream and strawberries from the garden. We also made a peach pavlova roll. Kloe decorated the cake and was so proud of herself

She was up at 7am which is very early for her, considering she has been getting out of bed at 10am most mornings!!!!! She sat very patiently and waited until 9am, until the others had woken up, before opening her presents.

She got a new quilt, pillows, lots of clothes, pj's, Aqua Sand, swimmers, hat, glitter pens, knickers, earrings, a keepsake box, jigsaw puzzle and money.

After a breakfast of croissants. Her best friend Szara came over. We then went to the park and then out for lunch.

The girls are currently playing. There is a big disco and movie night planned for tonight :)

It's a boy

Yesterday, there was so much excitement in our house. Missy our cow (or should I say Kayla's cow) was acting very unusual, we were all hoping it was time........................

As the morning went on, her behaviour got stranger. Our friend Bruce the cow man, must have known something, because he showed up, just to check on her. He confirmed she was definitely in labour and we would have a calf within 24hrs. We sat, watching and waiting. Just after 5pm her waters broke and we could see a hoof. There was much squealing and excitement. Bruce happened to show up minutes later. He calmed us all down with his experienced words of "It will be hours yet until it is born" He told us, he would be back at 8pm to check on her. More waiting and watching. Oh I could feel her pain. It was so hard to watch nature take it's course. Bruce arrived at 8pm and she had progressed a little bit. He told us if it hadn't come out on it's own by 10pm, she would need some help. We got everything ready and hoped that it would all happen on it's own. We all sat outside in the bitterly cold weather...............waiting. HOPING, watching!!! Bruce arrived at 10pm, the plan was to catch her and tie her up and then help the calf along. Bruce and Jordi went into the paddock, while I was on spotlight duty and the others were all looking. The poor girl was so exhausted they walked straight up to her, with a few quick tugs, the calf was out. It was a boy. Kayla and Jordi have named him Totum. Oh the excitement!!!!!

He is so gorgeous. We can't wait until Honey our other cow calves. She is due next month. We get to go through all the excitement (and pain!!!) all over again.

Lolly Christmas Trees and Lolly Wreath

You will need some wrapped lollies or chocolates of your choice, a foam cone, pins. Staring at the bottom of the cone pin lollies in and work your way up and around. Add any extra decorations

Lolly wreath

You will need a wire circle, thin wire or pipe cleaners, wrapped lollies or chocolates, tinsel. Attach the lollies to the wire circle with the wire. Wrap the tinsel around.

Chocolate Puddings

This is a very big favourite in our house at Christmas time. You will need Arnotts Royale Biscuits, white chocolate melts, jaffas and mint leaves. Melt the white chocolate and leave to cool, drizzle over biscuit and add the lollies. An extra pair of hand (or two or three come in hand).

These also made lovely gifts. I have recycled a plastic lid (off some dounuts from Safeway I think) wrap in cellophane and add a little decoration.

Chocolate Trees

Another super easy recipe, that we use all through the year. At Christmas time they are trees, Easter we shape them into eggs. At other times just balls and we roll them in coconut.

200g Arrowroot biscuits crushed
1 cup coconut
2 Tbs Cocoa
1 tin of condensed milk
Mix it all together. Wet your hands and mold into tree shapes. Drizzle with white chocolate and sprinkle with something pretty. We only had 100's & 1000's.

Gingerbread recipe

Gingerbread recipe

125g Butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup treacle
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 cups SR Flour
1 Tbs ground ginger
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp bicarb

Cream butter and brown sugar. Add treacle and egg yolk, mix until smooth. Add to sift dry ingredients. Roll out on a floured bench. Cut as desired. Bake at 160 until golden.

Shortbread

Shortbread
2 Cups Plain Flour
2 Tbs RiceFlour
1/3 cup castor sugar
250g butter
Wizz it all in a food processor until it resembles breadcrumbs. Lightly knead together, roll out and cut. Sprinkle with extra castor sugar. Bake at 160

Chocolate Playdough

Chocolate Playdough
1 1/4 cups of plain flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup salt
1/2 Tbs Cream of Tartar
1 1/2 Tbs Oil
1 Cup of Water

Mix all dry ingredients in a saucepan, add wet ingredients. Cook over a low heat until it forms a ball.

Reindeer food
You will need some oats (Just the cheap no name brand ones) glitter and some small plastic bags. Mix the oats and glitter and put into the bags. I made my own labels and put this cute little poem on it

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.

Reindeer Poo - a funny favourite with the boys. Buy any type of chocolate coated lollies or nuts. Put into bags or a glass jar.

Rudolph noses - A another cute one. Jaffas in a little zip lock bag

Candy Cane Reindeers

You will need some candy canes, pipe cleaners, fuzzy balls and some eyes. This is a great activity to do with the kids. Glue on the eyes and nose, twist pipe cleaner onto candy cane. You can shape the antlers with a pencil.

Christmas Kangaroo Paw's

Well who would have thought that the $2, root bound pots of Kangaroo Paw would take off like they have. We have never been successful growing Kangaroo Paw, it's a funny plant. They don't like to be wet. Just don't tell that to our ones, because they are growing so well in very wet soil. The colours are pefect for Christmas - red and green.

Yesterday was the official start to our count down to Christmas. I say official because the kids have been counting down for some time. Each year we have filled the advent calendar with little Christmas chocolates and started at 1 and worked our way to 24. This year all hell broke out, when someone deciding we should be starting at 24 and working our way to 1. Oh boy was there some arguing over which way to do it!!!! One wanted it one way and the other wanted it the other way. Santa almost had to be told, not to come to our house this year :)

I love Christmas time, it's my favourite time of the year. For years I have been wanting outdoor lights. Each year I was told, next year. Well if you want something done, sometimes you just have to do it yourself. I bought 100 metres of lights and decorated the outside of the house. You can also see my two gorgeous reindeer. The plan is to have them outside but it's been wet and very windy. We don't want any flying reindeer just yet :)

The plan is to buy lots more lights and decorations. I would love to do all the roof line. Pssst I hope the man of the house is reading :) Love ya babe

Yesterday was a cold and wet day. There was no cricket on in the morning and I had plenty of things to do outside.......... but it was raining. So, we needed a change of plans.

I have been wanting to sort through all the kids albums and put them into some sort of order, for a very long time. It has been months since I have scrapbooked. Everyone has been asking me, why I haven't been doing any recently. WHY? Well that is a good question. For some time I was questioning why I was doing it. What was the purpose of it all. Why was I fighting my children to have a photo taken and spending so much time recording life's everyday moments. It wasn't until I pulled out all the albums and I started looking through them with the kids, that I realised why. We laughed at all the silly things they used to do. So many of which would have been forgotten. I then knew why, I was doing this. Why it was time to find that passion again and continue to hold onto and treasure those everyday moments.

It's been awhile. Quite awhile. I have been getting into a lot of trouble!!!!!

So many of you have been asking for a blog update, well don't fall off your chairs, I am finally getting around to it.

Life has gotten in the way, which is not a bad thing at all. In the last month .....................................

We celebrated Zac's 14th Birthday.

Jarred and Kloe have both started Milo cricket on Sunday. Jarred has also started Basketball on a Tuesday afternoon. None of the others have played basketball, so I am asking lots of questions and trying to get my head around how the game is played. He just loves it. Jarred and Kloe are both still swimming on a Thursday afternoon.

Zac is enjoying his cricket. He trains of a Thursday and plays Saturday mornings. He doesn't like having to get up early on a Saturday. Once he is up he is fine. They have been doing really well and have either won or drawn each match.

Kayla has officially finished her two years of Cadets. The end of year Mass and Parade was held recently and she was thrilled it was OVER!!!! Kayla and Jordi celebrated their 12 month anniversary. And have recently celebrated their 13th. Jordi celebrated his 18th Birthday and a few days later, got his P's. He has a flashy red car, that can be seen at our house everyday :)

We celebrated Melbourne Cup day with sparkling apple cider. The kids thought it was so cool.

Speaking of horse races. Kayla's horse, she has a part share in, has run in a few races recently. Coming 2nd, 4th and the last one he lost his shoe and finished 10th. Such a shame as he was looking so good. He is due to race again soon.

We had a truck of load of mulch delivered which I spread on some of the garden. Shame we need about 100 more loads to finish it all off.

We have planted heaps of things in the veggie garden.

We had 45 tonnes of crushed road delivered for the driveway. Zac and I spread as much as we could. We are still waiting on the bobcat man to come and level it all out.

We sold all but two of our baby chooks. We wanted to keep 2 for ourselves. We ended up only having 2 rooster out of the 9, which was really good. We had a lady ask us for 2 dozen fertilized eggs too!!! Two of our other chooks decided to get clucky and sit on some eggs, so we have another 3 new additions.

Our cows are getting so big and heavy and I feel so sorry for them. Our friend the 'cow' man said they will drop their babies within the next few weeks. We are keeping a close watch on them.

When we moved into this house almost 4 years ago, we used our coffee table to sit the TV on, until we bought a TV cabinet. Now you can't rush these things, we finally bought a TV cabinet and coffee table.

Last weekend Chris and I went to Sydney for my brother, Wade's wedding. It was a super quick visit. We arrived late Friday and we were back home Sunday dinner time. We had a great weekend. I will share some photos as soon as I get them from my Dad (DAD I know you are reading this - I need the photos ;)

During the week it was sports day for Jarred and Kloe. Jarred was counting down the sleeps and Kloe would rather, there wasn't a sports day at all. Jarred insisted on having red hair.It was a really hot day and the day finished up early. The red team won, so I had two very happy children.

I haven't done any creating at all, Zip, nil, zero. Hopefully I will get back into it. Maybe when I can find another few hours in each day :)

I'm sure there is a thousand other things but at the moment that will do.

First Cricket Match for the Season

Cricket season has started again. There go our weekends for the next few months. Zac played his first game on Sunday. It was a very cold, overcast and gloomy Sunday morning. I was sure they would cancel the game - but no, the game went ahead. The boys had to put up with the icy conditions and the passing showers. They had to come off the ground twice because the showers got heavy. Zac doesn't usually feel the cold but he said, while he was batting his hands were numb and he was freezing. He opened the batting and scored 6 runs. It was a very close game and the other team looked like they were going to win. A few quick wickets at the end, changed all that and Zac's team ended up winning by 1 run

Kloe bought this puzzle a few months ago and has been working on it ever since. We have all spent some time, sitting and scratching our heads trying to put it together. She never gave up and sat patiently, for hours at a time doing it. On Friday night the last piece of the puzzle was completed. Well done Kloe.

I asked her "What are we going to do now?" and her reply "Break it up and start again" I think NOT!!!!!

Jervis Bay - Second Week

Our second week of holidays was spent down the south coast, at Jervis Bay. Jervis Bay is such a beautiful place. We all couldn't wait to escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. The wind had blown a lot of sea weed into the bay which wasn't too nice and of course, that all disappeared the day we left. We all had a great time, in spite of the weed. It just meant the boys weren't able to fish as much as planned. The weather was also very kind to us and we only had two cooler days.

A day out in Sydney

While we were in Sydney we caught up with lots of family and friends. The day we went into the city and to the zoo, was voted every one's favourite day.

We caught the River Cat into Circular Quay, then a ferry over to Taronga Zoo. Lizzie our niece came along with us, which we all loved.

Jarred and Kloe were both too young to remember the Bridge and Opera House. They were so excited to see them.

By the end of the day we were all very tired. We did a lot of walking but not once did anyone complain. We had a bit of excitement on the way home, when the River Cat broke down. Luckily the captain was able to use emergency controls to get us into the nearest dock and it wasn't too long, before another one came along to collect us.

Jordi's Grand Final

I'm still playing catch up with my blog posts. Jordi's (Kayla's boyfriend) team made it into the grand finals for footy. Kayla had been to every game except one this year. She only missed that one, because we were in Geelong that weekend. There was no way we could leave on our holiday, before we had been and watched him play in the grand final. The grand final was played on a cold and wet morning in Mt Gambier. It was a hard match with the rain making everything very slippery. The other team was up and looking strong. Jordi's team came out in the final quarter and came so close to winning. They just weren't strong enough on the day, which was a little sad but they did their best.

I know, I know it's been more than awhile. Life got in the way and I loved every minute of it. The last few weeks have been very busy and all crafting has taken a back seat to everything else.

My Dad came to visit us for two weeks

We have babies

Three weeks ago we put 12 eggs in the incubator. A week later we candled them to see if they were fertile. Nine of the eggs were. For 3 weeks, I turned the eggs twice a day and added water and then yesterday it all started to happen......................

6.15am Sunday morning - we have action, you can see by the two super excited faces that they were starting to peep.

The kids were beside themselves with excitement and sat for hours waiting and watching. I just hope they don't all turn out to be roosters.

Week 5 Scrap that Ad

Cold, wet and windy with a touch of sunshine

It's been very cold, very wet and very windy. I know it's Winter and that is what you get here in Winter, but I am longing for warmth and sunshine. During the week we had one day - yes that is right 'One Day' that was sunny. Still icy cold, but sunny. The kids spent the afternoon outside. It's been such a long time, since I pulled the camera out and just captured everyday things.

And this little man is less another tooth, he is sending the tooth fairy broke.

Honey and Missy our cows. Look at those very fat bellies, there is babies in there. So exciting. They are due around Christmas time.

Another two new additions to the family. We have lost another two chooks in the last few weeks. They get old and get egg bound, not nice but it's become a fact of life for us all.

And Princess Lilly, this cat is the most adored and spoilt cat to live.

As some of you may have read, I got some very unkind comments on this blog, which made me rethink the whole blog thing. Yesterday I reopened the comments and this morning I woke up and received the most lovely comment, from someone I don't know. It made me smile and has given me some faith back in the whole online thing. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such a beautiful comment. You have added some sunshine in my day xoxo

Kayla's Cushion

Kayla is doing textiles this semester, she didn't think it was really her thing. She has changed her mind :)

After a lot of research, she came up with this design and set about creating this cushion. She was thrilled with the results and so proud of her efforts. Next on her list of things to make, is a jacket and fascinator for the races.
