Some Recent Pictures

Rock star in the making. Jarred singing into his hairbrush Microphone. I wonder where he got that idea????? Wouldn't be from watching his big sister, by any chance?

These two goregous munkins!!!

Micaela taking photo's

It's Greening Up

As promised here are some pictures, showing how lovely and green everything is getting. For those of you that have lush green lawns you might not appreciate the beauty of some green grass. The top picture is looking out the front from the deck and the bottom one is out the back. Still lots of bare patches out the back, but it isn't totally bare anymore.
The kids had school photos on Friday. Chris had the day off work to get his licence changed, trailer rego and organise some fencing and his shed. So now he is officially a Mexican too!!! Zac had his friend Jack stay over on Friday night. Micaela went into town and went shopping and then went to see Spiderman 3. She said it is totally over rated and is the worst Spiderman!!! Zac stayed at Jack last night and Micaela had Suzie stay here last night.
We have two eggs in our birds nest, again. We are not getting excited.......Yet!! Farmer Bruce said he is going to catch us a Male Finch. He said we definalty have a female, he is not to sure about the other one.
This week will be spent getting ready for a teenage party on Saturday night. Micaela turns 13 on Friday. She is inviting 6 girls over for a sleepover........we must be mad!!. I've told Chris to bring home lots of ear plugs. It is her friends Birthday also, so Micaela is going to her place Friday night for her party and then they will come here Saturday to continue, the all weekend party.

World War Three about to begin

World War three is about to start in our household. Blues supporters verse those Canetoads. Oh, those toads would be my boys. Both Zac and Jarred have declared themselves Maroon supporters. Well, we can understand Jarred, he was born in Queensland. Zac, however was born in NSW, but still sees himself more of a Queenslander. I can hear our old neighbour Mrs Monty cheering for those toads from here. Go the Blues!!!!

All good and well in our household today. 15 degrees and a few showers again. Nothing exciting to report.

Chilly!!!

Yesterday was Cold. We reached a top temp of 12 degrees. I turned the heater off about 10 o'clock. It was a nice day to stay indoors. We had passing showers all day. Zac was home sick again with tummy cramps. Jarred was a bit brighter during the day, still not quite his usual self. After picking the girls up from school the heater went back on. We are expecting a warmer day today 14 degrees.

This morning was 4 degrees and we had an early start. Chris had a shutdown at work today so we got up at 5 am. Not the best morning to have to get up early. He went off to work layered in clothes......complete with beanie, gloves and a mug of coffee. Zac went back to school today, still complaining of tummy cramps. It must be cold because even Zac had his jumper on. He doesn't feel the cold like the rest of us. Jarred is much better today. Hopefully no one else gets sick this week.

Well I'm really sad to say we had to dispose of the bird eggs on the weekend. After reading up on finch breeding again. It said to dispose of the eggs, if they didn't hatch within 20 days. Well ours was well over the 20 days......we kept hoping. So, we either have two girls or it just didn't happen.

I will try and take some pictures today of how lovely it is looking, now that everything is greening up. We had another spectacular rainbow yesterday afternoon. Ever since we moved into our property we have been trying to think of a name to call it. While sitting out the front last week looking at the rainbow Chris thought of ROYGIBV View (The colours of the rainbow) he thought Rainbow View wasn't manly enough!!! If anyone has any ideas or other names for Rainbow let us know. We have had 6 Rainbows right out the front over the last few weeks, since it has been raining. So the name has to incorporate that into it.

It's Raining, It's Pouring......and we are going to be freezing

We have had heavy showers overnight. They are now talking about this rain being "Drought breaking" so heres hoping for all those farmers out there that it is. We are expecting rain today with a top temprature of 12 degrees. Yes......12!!!! Well it was 14 yesterday. It was fine if you were inside. By midafternoon we had to put the heater on.

Saturday was spent cleaning and cooking. Chris actually got a chance to give the ride on lawn mower a work out. He cut the front grass not long after we moved in and only did it again on Saturday. With the recent rain, everything has started to grow. It is looking so lovely.

We had people over from Chris' work yesterday for lunch. Pumpkin soup and fresh rolls. BBQ lamb rump steaks, marinated beef and sausages, fried rice, garlic and parsley potatoes and salad. Followed by coffee, black forrest cake and caramel slice. It was a nice afternoon, Andrew and Karen have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old. It was nice to sit back and watch someone else having to do all the work with the little ones. I don't miss my children being that young.

Jarred was sick just after going to bed last night. He continued to throw up until the early hours of the morning. He said he is fine this morning, he has a temp but loves Kindy so much that he still wants to go. There is no way he is going today. Chris and Zac have had a sore tummy for the last few days, hopefully it's not something that is going to be shared.

Have a wonderful week

Scrapbook Layouts

Jarred wearing Micaela's shoes and hat

Jarred with his easter prize he won in the Kindy Raffle

Jarred wanting me to Push him, at the park on Mothers Day

And our Little Sweetie Miss K. This one took me forever to do. It is all handstitched and the micro beads sewn on. It was such a goregous picture, I wanted it to be special

Micaela's Finally got her Winter Uniform

Finally Micaela has her winter uniform. She has been wearing her thin summer dress to school and freezing on most days. The skirts arrived on Friday and I picked her skirt up on Monday. She tried it on and it was 15cm to long. They ordered the skirts to fit the tallest girl in length, she is one of the tallest so I would hate to see how long the other girls skirts were. Yesterday was spent fixing her skirt.
She had to dress like a tiger for school yesterday to raise money for the Sumatran Tigers which they have been learning about. She went to school in her latest fashion, Tights, grey pinafore, white jumper, lace up boots and striped grey and black scarf. A very stylish tiger!!!

Bug Eyes

Don't you just love it? The glasses are almost as big as them. So, so funny!!

This Girl could win an Academy Award

Micaela is such a poser and an actress, I'm sure she could win an Academy Award. Here are some pic's taken on Mother's Day at the Park. Note the new Look. The look is so, so important. She spent her time taking self portraits of herself. Just gotta love it!!!

Pretty in Pink

Kloe couldn't wait to wear her new clothes. She even wanted me to take pictures of her. She is getting more and more like her big sister. "Mum take a picture of me like this" Such a little poser. And check out those new gum boots. Micaela and I both want a pair.

Can you tell.............

I have been playing with my new toy!!! Chris said he will never see me now. He may just be right. Thanks Joyce for your help, I've got it worked out now. Had technical difficulties with the sizes for a while. Wow!! just think of the possibilities..............

So what do you think???

Mother's Day Pressies

I was very lucky to get a wonderful handmade Letter holder by Jarred. Candles, soap and hankies from Kloe. And my wonderful Husband (he told me it wasn't him, it was the kids) bought me Photoshop Elements. I am so happy and can't wait to play with it. We spent the day around the house, with the boys heading off to footy in the afternoon. When they returned, we went down to the park for a while and then the kids and Dad cooked a wonderful 2 course dinner with the help of KFC.

You bought a Dud!!!

Chris was very proudly wearing his new beanie and scarf on Saturday night watching the Swans Game. As the evening progressed the beanie came in handy to hide the game and the score!!

I was told to take them back as they were Dud's. After the Swans went down again. Well at least the beanie came in handy to hide the score!!!

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Mum's out there. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Yesterday Micaela and I went to Warnambool for the day, to shop. With Miss M's birthday less than three weeks away, it was time to start looking for pressies. I also had to get Kloe some warm clothes as she had next to nothing. It was a really cold morning, our ducted air froze and had to go through the defrost cycle. We had a really thick fog cover which made driving conditions very difficult. It's about an hours drive to Warnambool, with the fog, visability was only a few metres . We had a wonderful day with Micaela enjoying buying up the latest fashions. She got lots of new dresses, tops, jumpers, cool red sunnies and even a gorgeous pair of lace up knee high boots. Kloe and Jarred got some new warm clothes. Zac and Chris got Beanies and scarves. Brisbane Lions for Zac and Sydney Swans for Chris. We had a wonderful day with no moaning or complaining. It's the first time we have been shopping without everyone since we left Cairns. Totally Enjoyable.

Zac spent Friday night at one of his friends houses. And he had a different friend stay last night. It was all arranged before I got home, I wasn't to pleased. I don't like friends staying over on special days.

Gorgeous morning this morning. It's cool but the sun is out. Should be a lovely day. I have just received a handmade letter holder by Jarred and candles, soap and hankies from Kloe. The other two are still snoozing. Have a great day!

Zac's Sumatran Tiger Project

Zac had to do a project on Sumatran Tigers. He did all the research and Mum just helped him make it look nice!! He was very proud of his efforts.
No news on the birds as yet. Looks like it might not happen.
Someone has turned the temperature down, again!!! Yesterday was a lovely 13.7 degrees.....yes that was the top temperature. This morning was cold. It is only 10.3 degrees now and it is almost lunch time. Great Hot Chocolate and Soup weather.
Happy Anniversary to Donna and Joe - hope you have a lovely day.

Update on the Birds

Have had many of you asking if there is any news on our birds. No little baby birdies yet. We all check so many times everyday. Hopefully there will be good news soon.

The difference some rain makes

This is our paddock closest to the road. The top picture was taken early March and the bottom one was taken on Sunday after some much needed rain. Amazing the difference.

Brunch and Bits

All of Primary School had a Healthy Eating Brunch yesterday. Kloe's class made fruit crepes. I stayed and helped the kids cut the fruit and then mix and cook the crepes. They then set up all the kids tables down the corridoor and made one huge table. Each class made something different with lots of different choices. Lots of yummy food. Then another Mum and I washed up and continued to wash up for the next two hours. Yes, you read right - 2 hours!!! Have really bad dishpan hands now! But well worth it.

Micaela has a cold and is feeling miserable. She is tough though and has still gone to school. She is now making PJ pants in Textiles, she is starting to enjoy sewing.

We had another shower of rain this afternoon. Not for long but every drop counts.

Chris has been busy every evening, getting the outer perimeter ready to plant tree seedlings in spring. He bought a rotory hue the other week and is giving it a really good work out. Much easier now that the soil is a bit softer.

Micaela and Zac are off to Melbourne Zoo on Friday. They have to be at school at 5.50am and return at 7pm. It's going to be a very long day. They are both really looking forward to it.

Well Farmer 'Bruce' tells us, you can have two female finches that lay eggs but they won't be fertile so no little babies. So, now I'm worried that we might not get any little birdies. Any day now we should start to have action, that is, if we have a male and female. Fingers Crossed.

Glorious Rain

This is the wonderful double rainbow that was out on Saturday afternoon (Sorry couldn't upload it yesterday - had to work out how to resize it with my new program/laptop) We had a steady drizzle starting not long after we got to school for the working bee. Chris was busy making garden beds and I was painting the Great "Green" wall of Baimbridge College. Left at one o'clock to come home and start here. The drizzle turned into heavy showers. The boys headed off to Auskick but returned rather quickly with a drowned and cold, Zac. Was a rather cold 13 degrees - was ok if you were busy doing things, you didn't notice it. Everything has a more green tinge to it today. Hopefully we get some more rain and we might even have some grass soon!!! Poor Kloe starts a two week swimming program today, at least it is at the indoor pool. But it is going to be soooooo cold getting changed. Hope she doesn't get sick.

There is wet stuff falling from the Sky

Oh, that's right it is rain!!!!!! Yes it has been raining. Don't know if it will be drought braking rain but it has been so, so nice to have a shower without buckets and not having to cart water for the last two days. Hooray!!!!! Everything has a slight green tinge to it. We had a gorgeous rainbow out yesterday afternoon, it was reflecting off our deck, it was so bright. No rain yet this morning but we had a thick fog and woke up to a white wonderland.

Both Micaela and Zac had friends stay over last night. Lucky we have a big enough house!!!
Today we are off to a working bee at school for Kloe's "Waterwise Garden" and this afternoon Auskick starts.

Seven it is

Well it's been a few days now and it looks like 7 is it. We are hoping we will get one baby bird at least so the kids can see and experience the wonder of life. But, I suppose the odds are pretty high and we might get a few more than one - well lets hope, fingers crossed.

Happy Birthday OMA

We know she doesn't have a computer of her own but sometimes has a look when she goes to Donna's.

Sending you lots of love and kisses on your special day

Only 6 - Oh Make that 7

As soon as Jarred got up yesterday morning we had to go and check how many eggs were in the nest. We counted (6). I said to him "It looks like that's all our birdie is going to have" Not even 1/2hr later Chris had a look and there was a nice new shiny egg. Make that SEVEN! Only seven in there this morning. But who knows, she might surprise us!!!

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday. Only had to run a taxi service with the kids. Zac had his friend Jack over for the day and Micaela went into town with her friends for a few hours. Made some things for Kloe's Mother's Day Stall. Chris sprayed weeds for several hours again!!! It's amazing how little water weeds need!! Back to work and school today.

Oh, and we got a new little toy to play with. A new Laptop. Chris salary sacrified with ERA and the only way we could claim our money back was to buy one. So yesterday was also spent loading software and playing. It will take a while to get use to. I'm typing this while it's sitting on the kitchen bench.

Have a great day

And then there was 6

Yes!! 6!!! They sure have been busy. The bird on the left is Spice (Mother) and on the right Sugar (Will have to think about changing his name now we know he is a male!!!)
In other news our car is in for service today and I'm waiting on the plumber because our hot water service is leaking and tripping the safety switch. Jarred and Kloe were not to happy having to have a rather cool bath in the cold weather. Chris reset it and at least it held out for the rest of us to have a quick hot shower.
Jarred is now going to Kindy two days a week Monday 9-11am and Friday 9-12midday. I'm so pleased his teacher finally made room for him on the Friday. He just loves going and is so ready to learn. He will not start school until 2009!!! Amazing when you think he would have started school in the NT this year.
Kloe is particpating in the Premier's Reading Challenge and has to read/or experience at least 30 books. We read 8 books last night. She is really enjoying reading and spelling and is coming along so well.
Ok, I'm off to make Jarred some Popcorn. "With Butter and Salt I said MUM"

Well done Kath and Drew

You are the only ones that leave regular comments on our Blog. We all love reading them. So to everyone else it's about time you spent an extra 2 secs and left some!!!! You have been told.

And now there is 4

Who said finches only lay one egg per day - well in our case, one per night. We struck it lucky, last night and got two. We all get up in the morning and the first thing we do is have a look and see if there is anymore. You should have heard the kids when there were another two in the nest this morning! Jarred wants to know if he can decorate them!!!

North Hamilton Kindy Celebrates 40th Birthday

Jarred's Kindy Celebrated it's 40th Birthday today with a Family Gala Day. There was free face painting, jumping castle, pony rides, mini police car rides, free show bags and lots of stalls and food. Jarred also made a handprint tile to be put up at the Kindy. Jarred and Kloe had a wonderful time and are now happily playing with their balloons and showbags.

Now there is Two

Two little eggs in our Birdies nest. As soon as Micaela returned from her Playathon she read up on the mating of finches. Finches can lay between 2 and 8 eggs at a time on average they lay 3-5eggs. They lay only one egg per day. It only takes 12 days before they hatch. They mature and can breed from 10 weeks of age. (OMG...OMG.... OMG....!!!!) So we may have a whole flock of finches soon!!!! Anyone want a bird or two or three?????

The Boys make the Paper

This is the second page of the Hamilton Spectator on Thursday. Chris took Zac, Micaela and Lizzie to the Speedway last Saturday night. The girls had just gone to the toilet when the photographer asked if he could take the boys picture. Must have been the sexy looking Zac with his big bug eyed glasses on. You can't let the dirt and dust effect your eyes!!! Lizzie wasn't to sure if she would like it, she came home so excited, she just loved it! Zac just can't get enough of this and as for Micaela, she still wants to race in an event like this. She is such a thrill seaker!

We are Expecting!!!

Hah, Hah.................................got you all didn't I???????????
Well the Birds are expecting. Look what we found in their little nest this morning. We thought we had two female finches, until the last week or so when they started behaving very odd. We all started to think we might have a male and female. Micaela was getting so excited she was sure they were up to something and she was right. She is off at her 24hr Playathon for Music at School and I rang her and told her she was going to be a Mother. "What?" was the reply. Then "Oh, my God........ Oh my GOD (1000 decibels higher) She can't wait to come home and see the little egg. Isn't it just so cute?????
